ABSTRACT
A new admixture is adopted for RCC at the Dachaoshan hydropower station. For the admixture, site production test and verification test in some temporary structures, such as gravity abutment and upstream RCC arch cofferdam, were carried out, before it was used to construct the RCC dam. During the constructing period, systematic measurements were taken, such as concrete placing temperature, density of RCC, temperature and humidity of the surroundings etc. After the dam finished, many tests including concrete core sampling and water pressure tests had been done in two stages. A large scale in-situ shearing test had been done. The results of these tests showed that the RCC’s uniformity and all parameters had reached, even exceeded the design standards.
