ABSTRACT

The Olivenhain Dam will be a new roller-compacted concrete (RCC) gravity dam located near San Diego, California. With 1.4 million yard3 (1.1 million m3) of RCC, the dam will be the largest RCC dam constructed in the United States.

This volume of RCC resulted in thousands of quality control test data. Database and reporting system software programs were developed to provide accurate and timely test results. The database system was customized to fit with the project specifications. In conjunction with the database, reporting systems were developed to crosscheck the test results with the project specifications, to produce report, and to generate a series of graphs automatically.

These systems have been used successfully during the entire course of the project. Customized software resulted in a better product because the software could be designed to fit the job specifications and to produce reports, as the viewers would like to see.
