ABSTRACT

Roller compacted concrete (RCC) will be constructed in the full cross section of the upstream transversal cofferdam in the third stage of the Three Gorges Project (TGP). The mechanical, deformable, durable and thermal properties of the RCC were tested. Moreover, the treating methods for the interlayer between the RCC and bonding properties for the bedding planes were studied. The experimental results showed that the ultimate tensile strain and the impermeability especially in the 28 day age depended on the parameters of mix proportion of RCC, and the dosage of binder materials had great influence on the temperature rise of the concrete in the adiabatic condition.
