ABSTRACT
The III-stage RCC cofferdam of the Three Gorges Project is the largest RCC cofferdam in the world. There are many innovations on technique and management of construction during the construction by China Gezhouba water & power (group) co. Ltd. For example, in technique, application of the tower belt machine boldly for placing RCC; newly developed continuous alternate rising cantilever steel formwork for the need of continuous rising in high intensity; new facility and washing equipment for tipper transportation; application of the crystal waterproof material with cement base at the upstream side; in construction management, the research of computer emulation research of construction have been prepared to guide the decision. The whole cofferdam has been completed ahead of 60 days. There are sever world records have been set on the RCC dam. It’s been proved by coring that the RCC placed is continuous, intact, well-distributed texture, well-cemented. All construction innovations on the III-stage RCC cofferdam of the Three Gorges Project shall be set forth in the paper.
