ABSTRACT
The Longtan Hydroelectric Project is located on the upper reaches of the Hongshui River. The project has an installed capacity of 4200 MW in the first stage with a planned expansion to 5400 MW in the second stage. As the highest RCC dam in the world, the project comprises an RCC gravity dam with a height of 192 m in the first stage and 216.5 m in the second stage. This paper indicates some key aspects in the Longtan RCC gravity dam design.
