ABSTRACT

Mianhuatan RCC gravity dam is one of the RCC dams with a height over 100 m constructed at the end of the 1990’s in China. The dam blocks on sloped banks are so long that the conventional unit width calculation method is obviously unsuitable for stability analysis. However, there is no existing method available to meet the demand in respect of analytic calculation. In our design the “Equal K Value” that is one of the methods for the “Rigid Body Limiting Equilibrium” was adopted as an exclusive solution to the issue. This paper concludes the application of this method in the dam design of Mianhuatan hydropower station.
