ABSTRACT

Treatment of contaminants in ground water is a relatively new field. While it is closely related to waste water treatment, the specific design requirements are unique. The first step in any aquifer cleanup is to define the treatment parameters that will be used to design the treatment system. The most important design parameters are: flow, concentration, and effluent requirements. The quantity of the material present is also important to the final design. In theory, getting the required effluent concentrations should be a straightforward process. The effluent concentrations will affect the type of technology that can be applied to the ground water. Every groundwater treatment analysis should begin by defining the treatment parameters. The more information that we have on the regulations, the more accurate an analysis can be.
