ABSTRACT
This paper will examine the differences between cyclic and continuous mining systems, used in the surface mining operations in Czechoslovakia. The optimal performance rates of truck / shovel mining systems will be evaluated, based on the type, density, and size of transported material, as well as technical and economic criterions. A simulation model that calculates optimal distances and the variability in the truck payloads will be presented. The object of the simulation model is to optimize mine productivity and utilize: the existing resources.
