ABSTRACT

The changes in personality which can be caused by strict diets have been given considerable publicity in the last few days following the sentencing of champion racing jockey Lester Piggott for tax evasion on Friday. Piggott virtually starved himself for 30 years to stay at 8st 31bs—two stones below his normal body weight—and it is thought that his diet might have led to his obsession with hoarding money.
