Its pods, flowers, leaves and twigs contain 75 calories of food energy, 6 grams protein, 13 grams carbohydrates and 353 milligrams of calcium per 100 grams edible portion. It has more niacin, thiamine, phosphorous and ascorbic acid than other vegetables, and contains an iron compound that helps prevent anaemia.
