ABSTRACT

Fook, Luk and Shou are the famous trio of gods symbolizing the treasures sought by billions of Chinese both ancient and modern. Fook is the God of Happiness and is characterized by his contented smile and his big round stomach, signifying a well-to-do life. In ancient China happiness was closely associated with a large family tree symbolizing unity, stability and control. This thinking certainly has been well preserved over many centuries; propagating the family tree remains one of the most practised and joyous events of the Chinese—a wisdom indeed shared by many others!
