ABSTRACT
Recommendation given by the Winemaster of the State of Bavaria at a dinner in the cellars of the Prince-Bishop’s Palace in Würzburg, on the celebration of the centenary of the discovery of x-rays by Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen (shown below right) in November 1895. On posing the question ‘What would you do if you had to give up either wine or women?’, he then gave the answer that it ‘Depends on the vintage’.
