ABSTRACT

In order to clarify the effect of the typical auxiliary methods using bolting (face bolting, vertical pre-reinforcement bolting and forepoling) on tunnel face stability centrifugal model test was carried out with various arrangements of the bolts and lengths in sandy ground. Also, the experimental results were compared with the analytical results by DEM (Distinct Element Method). The experimental results show that each bolting has an optimum length and arrangement to act effectively and it is shown that the effect of the bolting obtained from the experimental results can be simulated by DEM.
