ABSTRACT
The authors, investigating the rational and economical tunnel presupport and its design procedure, developed a new method to decrease surface settlement better than conventional one. In this paper, the advantage of the new method is verified and its supporting mechanism is evaluated by centrifugal model tests and the cylindrical shell theory.
