ABSTRACT

During the studies a hyperbar disc filter has been modified. For the first time a filtration process which uses steam has been carried out on a continuous pressure filter. A special steam cabin was constructed to ensure an optimal steam distribution on the surface of the filter cake. A gasket is situated between the steam cabin and the rotating cake. A feldspar (Dorkasil®) and a gypsum slurry produced in a flue gas cleaning plant of a power station were processed. The influence of the process parameters on the dewatering result (i.e. working pressure, specific steam consumption and the number of filter revolutions) has been examined.
