ABSTRACT
The enhancement of the extraction of silver from Artvin-Kafkasor ore have been studied by the application of bio-oxidation with Thiobacillus ferrooxidans. The effects of various parameters such as bacterial treatment duration, inoculum size and growth kinetics were investigated. The bacterial treatment of −208 μm size ore with Thiobacillus ferrooxidans before cyanidation resulted in silver recoveries of above 60% while direct cyandation could only yield 40.36% silver recovery.
