ABSTRACT

The scope of this research was to evaluate the geometry of the cutting tool and design an innovative cutting head for the continuous miners in order to cut coal/rock efficiently with minimum amount of respirable dust generation, and energy consumption. This study consists of three parts namely 1) Effect of in-dentor angle on the failure mechanism of rock utilizing holographic interferometry, 2) Analytical studies using three dimensional stress analysis of the tested specimen, 3) Fractured surface analysis. However this paper is devoted to the effect of cutting tool angle on failure mechanism of rock.
