ABSTRACT

Lower Silesia (SW part of Poland) is the most abounding region in rock and mineral resources in the country. From among nearly 600 mineral deposits over 400 ones, containing open-cast voids, have been analyzed. Authors selected 40 deposits and evaluate their voids from a point of view of different directions of reclamation. The system of exploited void development has been defined as an issue belonging to the area of natural resource management. Raw material industry, public administration and society are considered to be the main elements of that system. The study recommends new method for more objective approach to voids reclamation and development planning.
