ABSTRACT

Using the information of directions and locations of joints on a joint trace map, joints were modeled as three dimensional planes, and the algorithm was coded for finding convex removable blocks in the map and testing the stability of those blocks. This program was used to analyze the stability of rock blocks around a liquified petroleum gas(LPG) storage cavern located at Pyungtaek, Korea, and the detail information of each removable block such as the volume, height and active force were obtained. The analysis using the block theory for the cavern was also carried out.
