ABSTRACT
This study is one part of the ongoing research within the KTH-Ballast project. In order to analyse the difference and relationship between sieving and image analysis, more than one thousand fragments were measured individually by using sieving, and image analysis in a laboratory. 1200 kg fragments were sieved to compare the results of image analysis in three different quarries. Theoretical and experimental studies show that there are some differences between the two methods. The correlated results were obtained under certain conditions, as shown in section 5 of this paper.
