ABSTRACT
Although the Compaphoto technique has not proven to be a viable method for evaluating blasting fragmentation under production conditions, valuable lessons were learnt during its development and subsequent application. Imaging systems should be calibrated for each venue, algorithms for converting from image area to mass must be viewed with caution, and the reporting of measurement correlations should avoid ratio ambiguity.
