ABSTRACT

The possibility of the Ceno R. blockage as a consequence of the reactivation of the Anzola landslide was investigated by using a GRASS GIS based shell script that simulates the landslide material descent and computes the dam and lake sizes. The many different simulations performed made it possible to assess that the amount of depleted material and the morphological situation characterized by a narrow riverbed, can lead to the formation of consistent damming lakes that can represent a serious risk for the downstream hamlets.
