ABSTRACT

Within the project Geohazard-Map Vorarlberg a GIS-based geohazard assessment was developed. Parts of the river valleys of the Bregenzer Ache and Lech in Vorarlberg were geologically and geotechnically mapped to characterise baserock lithologies and mechanisms of active mass movements. Since the main type of mass movement and therefore the most important hazard of the area is rockfall, a GIS-based method of predicting potential rockfall paths with aid of the Digital Elevation Model was exercised and evaluated by the natural situation.
