ABSTRACT
A calcium-phosphate cement which hardens when added to water forming hydroxyapatite can be composed of a mixture of three phosphate compounds: monocalcium phosphate, tricalcium phosphate and tetracalcium phosphate. The relative proportions of the inital mixture modifies the setting time. A mechanism for the reaction is proposed.
