ABSTRACT
The paper summarizes recent research experiences conducted on sediment transport and debris flows in small streams of the Eastern Italian Alps. It illustrates the basic features of the gauging stations for sediment monitoring which are operating in two streams as well as the data collected. The results of field investigations on the volume of deposits from recent debris flows events are presented. Field studies on sediment transport and debris flows are discussed in the context of flow hazard mitigation.
