ABSTRACT

Decision Focus Incorporated (DFI) is working with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to develop tools to assist the utility industry in managing petroleum contaminated soils, one of the largest volume waste streams for many utilities. As a result, identifying and evaluating new options for managing petroleum contaminated soils has become a priority for utility managers. DFI, a management consulting firm with broad experience in the areas of risk assessment and risk management of contaminated soils and other waste streams, has developed several easy-to-use tools for personal computers that have been applied to risk management decisions for the utility and other industries. The Contaminated Site Risk Management System analyzes the health and environmental risks at hazardous waste sites and evaluates alternative remediation strategies. DFI is currently working for EPRI on a project called Risk Management for Noncombustion Wastes.
