ABSTRACT
This chapter aims to show that a ready-mix concrete company Lafarge Beton Granulats, is today in a position to meet the need that has occurred in the field of building and public works for the production of high performance concrete (HPC). It presents the experience of the supply of B 60 concrete for the construction of the Joigny bridge by one of its subsidiaries, Beton Chantiers Bourgogne. The chapter then deals with the development of HPC at national level within the Lafarge Coppee group. The main requirement for the development of this HPC was the use of local materials. It was worthwhile proving that it was possible to manufacture a B 60 without silica fume at a given site. The chapter provides a few examples of the development of regional HPC formulations, illustrating the possibility of supplying high performance concrete ready for use, virtually anywhere on French territory.
