ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the use of biological agents for the management of weeds. Biological management is a broad term for the exploitation of living organisms, or their products, to reduce or prevent the growth and reproduction of weeds. The organisms that have been used for biological weed management are diverse and include various types of animals as well as plants, fungi, and bacteria. Biological management seeks to manipulate one or more of these organisms, or agents, in ways that enhance processes that hinder the normal development of weeds at one or more phases of their life cycle.
