ABSTRACT

Perched ground water has turned out to be one of the more elusive phenomena to hydrogeologists evaluating alluvial basins of the southwestern U.S. This chapter covers the following aspects, including:

the historical and present hydrogeologic uses of the term “perched water”

methods of testing for perched water

well monitoring and sampling for perched water

case studies, based on the results of site-specific monitoring programs designed to evaluate perched water

summary and conclusions.
