ABSTRACT

Dynamic compaction of saturated sand by heavy tamping was researched. One interest in the research was, whether stratification, especially rock in a finite depth, affects compaction depth. Another interest was, if different ground vibration wave types can be distinguished from each other and analysed analytically. As a result a modified compaction depth equation is presented. For environmental impact assessment statistical test result analysis for predicting vibrations on the ground surface in a homogeneous half space is presented.
