ABSTRACT

The distribution of xerophytic (Classopollis, ephedroids) versus hygrophilous (spores) palynomorphs suggests dry phases in the Aptian, Cenomanian-Santonian and humid phases in the Albian-Cenomanian and Campanian-Maastrichtian of northern Gondwana (Egypt). On the southern Laurasian side of the Tethyan Ocean (Kazakhstan) the dry phases are in the Neocomian, Turonian and Campanian-Maastrichtian; the Aptian-Albian and the Santonian are relatively humid.
