ABSTRACT

The measurement of stress in the waste area offers valuable data about the stress distribution, mainly from point of view of future mining. This paper presents an example of stress measurements in stowed area of particular longwall face. There were different conditions around this face. In some parts of this area there were many pillars in the upper seams, on the other hand in some parts the upper seams were extracted. The paper show the distribution of waste area stress during two years of longwall mining and a results of observation for a period of 8 months after the extraction of the face.
