ABSTRACT

Steel arch yielding support, the most widespread support of coal mine galleries, has been designed and calculated mainly for the static loading. On the contraty the behaviour of the steel arch support under conditions of dynamic loading and its dynamic loading capacity have been much less searched. Even from the point of view of this method the task is very complicated. Arch supports content yielding clamp joints, which cause nonlinear characteristics of strain-stress and deformation behaviour of the construction. Due to the long-time systematic collaboration of the University of Mining Metallurgy and Department of geomechanics, Research Mining Institute in Ostrava Radvanice original and very interesting results of the arch support behaviour under dynamic loading were obtained. The conditions under which the steel arches occur are considerably uncertain. For better knowledge of their behaviour more additional computer experiments will be needed.
