ABSTRACT
The results from theoretical and practical research are presented concerning the state of the stresses induced in heterogeneous Rock mass under the impact of the blast. The effects predicted, such as destruction and weakening of rocks and minerals, have been confirmed by experiments in laboratory and in situ conditions. A technology for a following mechanical treatment and floatation of the extracted rocks and ores has been proposed, based upon a proper determination of parameters of the drilling and blasting works, the effectiveness of which has been proven by its industrial application.
