ABSTRACT
Site investigations where earthquakes are an issue must, at least in Europe, satisfy the principles and application rules of EC8. Although in many cases this will not be burdensome to the construction industry there are situations where conventional procedures will not be adequate. The form and content of the desk studies may have to be remodelled and, on site, specialist services will have to be properly deployed and managed.
