ABSTRACT

An extensive experimental program is carried out at NTUA on almost full scale R.C. columns subject to axial and shear forces and to bending moments. In this paper are presented, partly though, the results of the program whose aim is to investigate the effectiveness of confinement provided to columns by closed hoops. The experimental results are compared to those obtained from the application of a physical model about confinement of R.C. columns, which was previously developed at NTUA.
