Under moderate water defi cits, TE increased in grain sorghum.[3,10] The leaf area index is irreversibly reduced under stress, cell density is maintained but cell enlargement is irreversibly affected.[11] Some plants may be able to adjust osmotically which may contribute to resistance to water defi cits.
