Lessons on building performance from the great Hanshin-Awaji earthquake disaster in 1995

Lessons from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake Disaster caused by the 1995 Hyogoken Nambu Earthquake were reviewed and the disaster mitigation programs after the disaster in Japan on three groups of buildings; new buildings, existing buildings and damaged buildings, were summarized.
