ABSTRACT

Earthquake ground motions are classified into 5 types base on their duration, Fourier spectrum and effects on displacement responses of SDOF systems in this paper. Features of nonlinear displacement responses of SDOF systems to different types of earthquake ground motions are then investigated respectively. Based on the results, displacement-loading modes of low-cycle test simulating structural responses to earthquake ground motions of types S, L-1 and M-1 are presented.
