ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Various treatment agents, such as stabilizers, have been introduced and used in order to improve low quality earth materials or structures. When chemicals are introduced in new application, their environmental effects should be determined. In the Finnish research project VÄKÄSTE 2 the environmental effects of three hydrophobic stabilizers verified in previous research stages suitable for improvement of road aggregates were studied. Concurrently, an evaluation approach was created in order to find both suitable methods and criteria for the assessment of previously unfamiliar agents.
