ABSTRACT

Despite the interest in high-performance polymers due to their excellent material properties for a number of applications and industries, it was not possible until now to use them in the laser-sintering process since their melting point is between 220°C (428°F) and 380°C (716°F) degrees. Standard commercially available lasersintering systems, such as EOSINT P390 or P730, could only reach up to about 180ºC. This temperature is enough to melt polyamide based polymers which have constitute the basis of laser sintering business up to now.
