The production of Ti-6Al-4V parts with controlled porous architecture by three-dimensional fiber deposition

Although “rapid” in the strict sense of the word is not applicable to 3D Fiber Deposition (3DFD) as the thermal treatments are not simultaneous with the fabrication of the part, 3DFD is also accounted as a free forming technique. In 3DFD objects are manufactured by extrusion of a highly loaded powder based paste layer by layer without heating of the paste. Important issues in the 3DFD technology are to be considered:

• absence of a powder bed and thus avoiding powder removal procedures.
