ABSTRACT

Although the effort to follow and respect the directives and regulations of EU (European Parliament and Council. 2008, Council of the European Union. 1999) and The Waste Management Plan of the Czech Republic (Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic. 2003) the most common way of waste treatment is the waste disposal. Almost 80% of the waste production is disposal to the landfills which is above average of the EU countries (46%). Waste disposal at the low level of respecting the environmental standards represents very often the threat for the human health, property and environment. It is necessary for the competent and responsible stakeholders to create conditions for a rigorous application of the hierarchy of waste disposal and the tools of The State Environmental Politics (Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic, 2004) in the area of waste management.
