ABSTRACT

Resilience Engineering (RE) is an emergent field related to safety. We are defining safety as: “freedom from unacceptable risks” and resilience is being described in Hollnagel (2006) as – “the ability of a system or an organization to react to and recover from disturbances at an early stage, with minimal effect on the dynamic stability.” This positive perspective on resilience is in line with the more positive perspectives on psychology presented by Seligman (2002) as president of the American Psychological Association, to explore not only what goes wrong but also exploring what goes right.
