ABSTRACT

Ogawa (1983), Hibino and Ichinose (2005), Kawano et al. (1998). Nakashima and Sawaizumi (2000) performed the dynamic analyses on the effect of COF on the dynamic responses of frame structures by using three ground motions; Hibino and Ichinose carried out a study on the effect of COF on the seismic energy dissipation of structural members; Kawano et al. carried out a nonlinear dynamic response analysis with the degradation of interstory rigidities in consideration to evaluate the requirement of COF, and so on. Most of these studies, including experiment examination and numerical analysis, were performed using limited specific earthquake ground motions as input. The results obtained in such a way are hard to represent the potential response to the next unknown ground motion due to the great uncertainty existing in earthquake motion. Zhao et al. (2002) proposed a COF evaluation method with the uncertainties of member strength and earthquake load in consideration, but the dynamic properties of structures are not considered.
