ABSTRACT

Most modern seismic design codes have considered the concept of ductility for designing seismicallyresistant structural systems. They usually offer provisions for different systems, such as moment-resisting frames (MRFs), concentrically-braced frames, eccentrically-braced frames, and steel plate shear walls with different levels of ductility. Table 1 shows the summary of these systems based on CAN/CSA S16-01 (CSA 2001).
