ABSTRACT

In past years, a lot of experimental and numerical researches have been carried out on the seismic design of semi-continuous steel frames with partial strength beam-to-column connections. They represent an attractive structural solution even when employed in earthquake-prone regions. In fact, the partially restrained (PR) frames are more convenient than frames with full strength connections since the construction cost is markedly lower and, at the same time, they guarantee effective seismic performance.
