ABSTRACT
As our infrastructure ages we are increasingly faced with problems of deciding when and how to repair or replace structures as corrosion, frost, alkali aggregate reaction (AAR/ASR), etc degrade their reserves of strength. Design codes provide no explicit margin for the loss of strength from the inevitable deterioration with time.
