ABSTRACT
When performing risk analyses, experts’ opinions are often the only practical alternative to accomplish the task of identifying and assessing seismic and geotechnical risks. Based on their experience, experts identify the risks that may possibly be relevant to the problem under consideration. They also quantify the probability that each risk will effectively materialize and the effects caused by their occurrence, which depends a lot on the local conditions.
