ABSTRACT
In China, with the rapidly economic development, more and more highways are constructed or planned in mountainous areas. The engineering environments and conditions are far from the plain area. The main characteristics of mountain area highway can be summarized as: • High mountain • inconvenient transportation • bad weather • unfavorable geology • limited construction methods • long tunnels • long bridges with high pier • deep cut slope • construction material shortage • earthquake and • so on.
